There has been a lot happening here in the State of Queensland where i live. About 3/4 have been inundated with flooding. It is a terrible disaster with lives lost and people having to leave there homes. Businesses have also been affected.

There is also parts of New South Wales and Victoria which have also been effected by flooding.

Old Things Made New Again

I'd like to share how wonderful it is to get inspiration from other people. One such person that inspired me last week was Jess from Epheriell Designs.

Jess made a teacup succulent garden. I couldn't help but want to make one myself. I found a gorgeous Old Foley teacup set that i just adore. It now lives pride of place on my dining room table.

I've been watching the Tudors on DVD and have loved it. The costumes and jewellery are just amazing. In fact the whole thing is just so well done.

Alice In Wonderland Cushion

Well i love all things Alice In Wonderland. I also make Alice in Wonderland jewelery. But i wanted to make something other than jewelery.

The when Cloud of Voodoo Rabbit went to Japan and bought back some Alice In Wonderland fabric i just had to get some.

I am no way good at sewing but really wanted to make something different from my normal craft.

So out came my old but trusty janome sewing machine and cutting board. Some mistakes were made but was easy to rectify by cutting the offending mistake and re sewing again. So what should have taken probably about 3/4hr took me like 2 hours.

My partner said he didn't know making a cushion could take all afternoon. So here it is. I gave this cushion to my daughter and she loves it , so that is all that matters. And i got to make something different.

Dust Craft Swap

OH! Goodies arrived today from the dust craft swap. Well i was partnered with Karen from New Earths Soaps. All Karen products are natural eco friendly and suitable for vegans.

Well the smell of the package hit me first. OH so beautiful. With excitement i opened my package to see a wonderfully packed surprise of 3 generous sized soaps and a face mask which i really need right now. And a cute white organza bag with Chamomile and essential oils.

I just loved the whole way Karen presented her soaps to me. So natural and earthy. Thankyou Karen.

Some New Items For The New Year

Back from my holiday,really enjoyed myself getting together with family and friends that i haven't seen in a long while. Love them all.

Before i went away i painted some brass stampings and gave them a distressed look. I wanted to give a shabby chic look and of course the colours pink and blue inspired from my love of vintage doilies that i collect.

The first pair of earrings are inspired by my love of Marie Antoinette. I love the lacy look of
the brass connector and the bow and vintage glass just puts it all together.

Holiday time.

Well it's been awhile since i've had a holiday. I don't like putting my Etsy shop in vacation mode as no one can window shop and maybe heart my items for potential future purchases.

I don't like it that there is now a blank space on my blog where my Etsy mini was so people can go straight to my store from my blog. I guess i will just take the Etsy mini off till i come back.

I feel invisible now. It was hard making this decision because it is the first time i have shut my shop in three years since being on Etsy. I also wonder if i will have withdrawal symptoms from not making anything or doing something Etsy related. Nah i don't think so.

Bring on the sun and surf . I also plan to read a book. Something i haven't done in a long time.

Meet Howie The Dog

Well it's been a long time since i have done anything with the girls. So to make up for it they got a little dog for Xmas. This is the cutest little fellow ever. His name is Howie and he even has his own bone to keep him happy.

Don't tell them though i put Howie on the xmas tree for a few days .

Little Bit Worried This Weekend

It was a horrible weekend here in Rockhampton where i live. There has been several bushfires in the Mt Archer area. Some of them got out of control.

The smoke and ash that was flying around the place on Saturday was not nice at all. My daughter went to the races as it was Caulfield Cup day. All her friends were dressed and looking beautiful.

She text me a message about 3.30 pm to say that ash was flying in her hair and she was worried. I went and got her and her friends and reassured that all will be well.

We stayed home and hosed down everthing just in case burning amber were flying around. As you need to take some kind of precautions. Or feel like you are doing something while watching it.

All day and into the night all we could here was the sounds of sirens and air crafts carrying water.

By Sunday the smoke was a lot thicker and some people had to evacuate in my area. We were fine though.

Today things are a lot better,thank god, fires are scary stuff. And I applaud all the hard working fire fighters who worked endlessly to control it.

Here are two photos. One was taken on the Saturday and one taken on the Monday.

Also i heard that they may have been deliberately lit which is appalling and can't for the life of me understand why someone would want to do such a thing.

Vintage Bluebird Sugar Bowl

I found this cute blue bird sugar bowl at my local market a few months back now.

As i was walking along the stalls this little blue bird was looking at me. It was like a beacon, i just couldn't take my eyes of it. So i just had to buy it.

Look At These Two Gals.

I bought one of these vintage gals from the local market that i go to. It was my treat for my birthday. I was quite impressed with them.

The wonderful lady that makes these dolls uses a lot of vintage fabric and pieces that she finds. Her work is beautiful and of high standard.

I end up buying the one with the pearl necklace and her name is Jessica.

Pillow Boxes and Tags

I haven't been blogging for a while and thought i would let everyone know what i have been doing lately. Besides making jewelery i got addicted to scrapbook paper. How beautiful paper really is and the choices, wow.

Here is a pic of some pillow boxes and tags i made up. One night i spent hours just making pillow boxes up, then weeks on doing it with different paper. I think i got it out of my system now.

Another Doggie Thing

Aw he is at it again, two times in two days the toilet roll has been diminished to just the cardboard roll. Something he loves about toilet paper. I think its the fun of just rolling it off the toilet holder.

He even likes any kind of paper and plastic, any door that is left open he will find something and go to his hidy hole and destroy. First thing in the mornings when i wake the children up ,he is there dying to get in and see what he can grab.

I found this lovely bookmark while going through the treasury one day and saw that Tracy from Beadz4BookWormz had put one of my items in her treasury so i headed over to her shop. I come across these gorgeous bookmarks and decided i never had a nice bookmark before it was always a piece of paper or anything else within reach like a bobby pin or even a earring.

Clean your Camera Lens

Wow, for a month now my photos have been all smoky looking and couldn't work out what was wrong with my camera, well yesterday a friend suggested i clean the lens and to my excitement it worked. I thought i would have to buy a new camera here is the photos of two pics one without the lens cleaned and one with the lens cleaned.

Rain is taking over here.

Ever since i decided to blog i know i go on about the rain, we have had some good days, but very hot and then on Sunday the monsoon got us at 2.00a.m in the morning, 601 mm of rain in two hours. God what a mess , we were lucky though, just a little bit of cleaning up. My partner went to work and took the long way round, what a mess he said, some places you could only see the car tops. He came home 2 hours later.

There is more rain to come, i am so over rain. They are calling this Al Nina the opposite of Al Nino and can last up to 6 months. God your thinking 6 more months of going on about the weather, i will try not to.

The sun is out now this morning so nice, i took a pic of a little flower in our garden to brighten things up a bit.

Well you are probably wondering about the paypal store there on my blog. I have decided to put up some photo jewelery here and not on etsy as it is completely different from my jewelery line. You never know someone might like it. I have been selling these at my local market for some time now.
The pictures are done on high gloss photo paper and sealed with diamond glaze. Postage is included in the price.

Is this cheeky of me to be doing this i wonder, i have seen other blogs with it on.

Here are some pics of some more i have done. The one in the middle is a drawing of my daughter done by a artist at Dreamworld which i have scaled down to fit into the frame. I will make it into a key ring or mobile phone charm for myself.

Well i am going to rave on about the rain again. It is on going ,flooding everywhere. My daughter hasn't been to school for 2 days due to flooding in class rooms. It is hard now trying to take a good photo of the jewelery. Just doing the best of a situation. Anyway what has all this rain got to do with a dog.

Well this little doggie doesn't like the rain and tip toeing everywhere, when he is game to go outside. Doesn't like getting his little tush wet either. I gave him a bone to eat outside and i turn my back for 1 minute and here he is thinking he can hide from me while eating his bone on the mat. Well hahaha for him back outside again.

Well after all the rain we have had and the Fitzroy River flooding and more rain to come things are starting to pong around here. The whole city smells.

I dropped my partner off work the other day and was gagging when we got there, thought i was going to be sick. Drove like the clappers to get away from it. On top of that mosquitos and black flies.

I have bought loads of stuff to combat the mossies and flies and now they are saying there is risk of dengue fever and meningits .

Well ,after much thinking about starting a blog i am going to give it try. And i can say the thinking part was almost a year. So bare with me.

Today i got a neat little package fill of brass findings, how i love receiving these packages in the mail. I open them up straight away and always delighted.

I was in the middle of doing housework when it arrived, well an hour later after some playing around it was back to the dreaded work. And then decided to go on the computer and checkout the Etsy United Filigree Artisan's Guild which i am also a member of.
